Two Worlds

Albuquerque, New Mexico has long stood as a cultural crossroads, where Native traditions survive in strong form despite collisions with Eurocentric culture and policy extending back nearly 500 years. These photographs were made in 2008 by youth at the Native American Charter Academy in Albuquerque, as a means to explore the space between their traditional and contemporary lives, as well as their migration into young adulthood.
